The Fractional Calculus Department was created as one of the departments of the IAMA on February 7, 1992 and headed by D.Sc. (Phys. and Mathematics), professor Temirkhan Aleroev. It should be noted, that the first staff of the department included the famous mathematician S.G. Samko in the position of the leading research fellow. The first staff also included Gekkieva S.Kh. – a junior research fellow, who is still an employee of the IAMA.
Since then, the staff have changed at different times, including Ilkhan Ozturk (PhD, professor, corresponding member of AMAN, Turkey), Eleev V.A. (D.Sc. (Phys. and Mathematics), Shkhanukov-Lafishev M.Kh. (D.Sc. (Phys. and Mathematics), Kerefov A.A. (Ph.D. (Phys. and Mathematics)), Tokova A.A. (Ph.D. (Phys. and Mathematics)), Rudakova I.V., and others.
During the work, the department reported 8 successfully defended theses for the candidate’s degree and 2 dissertations for the doctoral degree.
