Institute history

  • August 26, 1991 – foundation date for the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Automation (IAMA). Decree of the RF State Committee on Science and Higher Education.
  • June 29, 1993 – IAMA is the part of the Kabardino-Balkar Scientific Center RAS. Decree of the Presidium of Russian Academy of Sciences No. 143.
  • December 18, 2007 – IAMA is renamed into Establishment of the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Applied Mathematics and Automation of the Kabardino-Balkar Scientific Center RAS (IAMA KBSC RAS). Decree of the Presidium of RAS No. 274.
  • December 13, 2011 – Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Research Institute of Applied Mathematics and Automation of the “Kabardino-Balkar Scientific Center” of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences No. 274.
  • December 30, 2013 – IAMA is transferred to the FASO of Russia – the Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations of Russia, to continue the reform of RAS. Order of the Russian Federation Government No.2591.
  • June 30, 2014 – IAMA is renamed into the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Institute of Applied Mathematics and Automation”. Order of FASO of Russia No. 141.
  • December 29, 2015 – IAMA merger with the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science of the Kabardino-Balkar Scientific Center of R AS along with other research establishments of the Republic, as a result of reorganization declared in the order of the FASO of Russia, No. 698.
  • June 27, 2018 – the Kabardino-Balkar Scientific Center with its affiliated institutes transferred to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated May 15, 2018, No. 215 and Order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1293-р.

The Institute main research areas:

    • methods of computational mathematics;
    • fractional calculus and its application;
    • modeling of physical processes in fractal media and nanosystems;
    • development of the theory and algorithms of neuroinformatics and machine learning;
    • non-local differential equations and equations of mixed type;
    • mathematical problems of CAD, methods of network optimization and optimal control;
    • mathematical modeling of geophysical and physico-biological processes in systems with a fractal structure and memory.
